Canon Updates

CANON UPDATES

Sometimes, you'll app a character from halfway through a series, and then the rest of the series will air and you'll find yourself wanting to update your character's knowledge to that of the big finale. Sometimes an author will release the next book in a series and you'll breeze through it and want to hop your character forwards in their timeline to reflect that.

Whatever happens, canon updates in HFM are completely allowed. Please fill out the following form, post it in the comments section, and we'll evaluate and get back to you. Once a canon update has been accepted, have your character disappear from Freesia City for one in-game day. When they return, they'll keep all their memories of HFL so far, but it'll be like they were whisked back into their world to live through the canon update and then brought back after an in-game day (like Narnia, we can assume time doesn't work quite the same in HFL as it does in other universes).

If you'd like to 'hard-reset' your character, or take them from an earlier canon point than the one you apped, understand that your character must have their current memories of Freesia City wiped. They won't remember a thing about Freesia City (for them it will be like they were never here, even though other characters may remember them) and they'll be introduced again after you re-app them.

In the comment subject line, state whether this is an UPDATE or a DOWNDATE.

WHO: [personal profile] unrecovered Agent Washington, Red vs Blue, AU

OLD CANON POINT: End of Season 11: got marooned on a planet and pulled into their civil war; received a blow to the head while helping his friends escape that knocked him out. A bit of AU stuff before he arrived in Freesia.

NEW CANON POINT: End of Season 13: said civil war was a ruse covering planetwide genocide orchestrated by a 3rd party; the people of the planet have united against the common enemy and turned the tides; the mercs who helped facilitate the genocide have been killed or otherwise deposed; the final battle is mostly over; Wash is on his way to provide evac for his friends, who are facing off against the aforementioned genocidal third party.

CHANGES TO CHARACTER: Despite being in the middle of a civil war, Wash has mellowed out quite a bit. He's calmer and more collected in general, and he's gotten better at expressing what he feels, especially in terms of concern and support for his friends. He still gets upset, and he still gets angry, but they're not his go-to reactions quite so often anymore. Emotionally, he's on a much more even keel.

(Honestly, the big reason for the update is information; a lot happens in Seasons 12 and 13, including a betrayal from someone in Season 11. I didn't want to have to play that out again in game, and I wanted him to be up to date with any canonmates who might app in.)

WHO: [personal profile] jonesiseverywhere Casey Jones, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012), OU

OLD CANON POINT: After the episode Casey Jones vs the Underworld. The Kraang invasion had just been stopped, New York's reconstruction was just underway, the streets were filled with criminals and refugees that

NEW CANON POINT: Beginning of season 4, right after the end of the episode Beyond the Known Universe. NYC is repaired and functioning again, Shredder, rather than amassing power through a mind-control worm, is using it to control Karai, his adopted daughter (actually Splinter's biological daughter) whom the turtles and friends are attempting to save. In that time Casey's been involved in a death race, bitten and nearly-fatally poisoned by Karai (through a kiss so THOSE emotions are confusing), and helped pilot a giant home-made turtle mechsuit...

...And then the Kraang returned. And then the Kraang's biggest rivals, the Triceratons, also invaded, accusing the human race of being too weak to stop the Kraang's atrocities. To end the Kraang forever, the Triceratons set up a black hole generator in the middle of Washington Square, leading to a giant free-for-all battle that ended with...a loss. Master Splinter was stabbed and killed by Shredder just before he could shut the machine down. The entire Earth was sucked into a black hole, and Casey, April, and the turtles only escaped by the skin of their teeth with the help of a timely spaceship driven by an android called the Fugitoid.

...And then, at most, 20 minutes later everything was reversed when the Fugitoid took them back in time six months. The planet-wide genocide of every living thing on earth never happened, and now Casey and his friends have six months to travel through space and prevent the Triceratons from destroying the earth. Within a day they managed to piss off the biggest crime lord in the galaxy. So not everything changes.

Casey will return right at the end of the episode, just before they engage/run from the Triceraton army.

CHANGES TO CHARACTER: Honestly, this is more of a plot update than anything, because Casey doesn't seem to have lost any of his recklessness. In fact, he is SO JAZZED to be in space he came out of it even MORE impulsive. However, he'll be less about the lone vigilante hero bit and more about working as a team because apparently that's how it works in space.

And also, I want him to fit in with all his space dwelling friends.
